Helensburgh Ham Digs Deep To Score On A Soggy Wyong Strip

Sep 02, 2016

The Damien Lane prepared Helensburgh Ham competed in a three and four-year-old BM65 handicap over 1300 m at a very wet Wyong with a heavy 10 setting up all runners with ambitious task, Andrew Adkins was aboard jumping from barrier six.

On landing Helensburgh Ham led in front of the well supported Calabasas, Uthred was next with Nick On The Run fourth, with the small field packing prior to the turn.

Into the straight the field fanned to the centre of the track Helensburgh Ham still led in advance of Calabasas whom was grinding away on the outside of the leader but the beautifully prepared Helensburgh Ham was gaining the upper hand in the concluding stages with a beautifully well-ridden race by Andrew Adkins assisting in securing the prize for connections in advance of Calabasas in second with Uthred in third.

Congratulations to Mr B Nicholls with an impressive win on a bleak Wyong Cup afternoon.
