Damien Lane will supply two runners to the Wellington race club meeting on Saturday, March 28 with fine weather predicted racing on a good three the rail is in the true position.
The first of the stable runners will come out in race three with last start winner Pirate Ben to be ridden by Greg Ryan jumping from barrier seven in a field of 12 in a class one combined maiden plate over 1700m.
Pirate Ben is a three-year-old chestnut gelding having start number four with one win earning prize-money in excess of $9000, that win was it Armidale on March 16 over 1400 m when ridden by Roy L McCabe lead from barrier to box to beat home a field of nine by five lengths in a race time of 1:23.18 with the last 600m in 36.69.
Damien's final runner on the card Bench Star will come out in race five in a BM 63 handicap over 1400 m with Greg Ryan in charge jumping from barrier 10 in a field of 11.
Bench Star is a six-year-old Brown gelding having start number 48 with five wins and 11 placings earning prize-money in excess of a hundred thousand, last time out he competed at Newcastle on March 14 finishing midfield fifth of 10 over 1400 m with Roy McCabe the pilot arriving 5.6 lengths behind the winner in a time of 1:22.80.
