The consistent Damien Lane racing stables supplied Star Approach to race eight at the Scone meeting on Friday, January 23 racing on a good 4 in a class one handicap over 1200 m with Roy McCabe in charge jumping from the widest gate in 14.

As the runners moved into line the red light flashed and the starter let them go, first into stride was Steel Academy Murphy's Coal Dust was travelling in second with Snip Me third Ayham was in fourth and from the wide gate Star Approach was midfield into stride and wide on settling.

Into the straight it was Steel Academy out by a couple of lengths to Star Approach making a sweep down the centre of the track Murphy's Coal Dust was battling away as Ayham started to rise in effort to be the widest runner passing the 200m.

Star Approach was under the urgings of McCabe looking like the pair were not going to be denied, Ayham was lifting for Bolozhinski and as the came to the wire it was Ayham a whisker to the game Star Approach with a further length back to Colour Of Love in third.
