Damien Lane saddled up Spinning Gold to Taree race 4 in a class three handicap over 1614 m with the four-year-old gelding to be ridden by Roy L McCabe jumping from barrier five in a field of seven.

On leaving the stalls Spinning Gold was out moderately sitting midfield with Hundrezn and Thousanz out smartly Mosgiel Ruby was second on the inside of Koori Flyer with Spinning Gold being punched along by McCabe as the field settled passing the chute.

A thousand from home, McCabe urged his mount along rushing around the outside of the leading group, to lead towards the turn, with Spinning Gold relishing the conditions to gain momentum, with Hundrezn  Thousanz, second in a group with Mosgiel Ruby, and Koori Flyer still prominant with the other horses in another division.

Into the straight the longer the race went on the further Spinning Gold lead, the other horses whacked away for the minors but on reaching the line it was all Spinning Gold scoring by around five lengths to Mosgiel  Ruby with Hundrezn Thousanz in third position.

Congratulations to the ownership group Grant Thoroughbred Holdings, Mrs G P Kelly-Grant, Mr D F Lane, Nineteen Fifty Four, Mr D G Mclaren, Mr D Mclaren,  whom must of been biting their nails, prior to the event, not knowing if the meeting would continue, however now they can begin the celebratory drinks.
