Damien Lane supplied one runner in the form of Pirate Ben to race five on the Canterbury Park program on Wednesday, June 8th, racing on an improved soft (7) the rail position was+2 m the entire circuit.

As the gates flew back the first runner into stride was the well supported Signposted, Braces was next, one off the fence in second covering Pirate Ben, in third, Sassaby was fourth, as the field passed the post a circuit to run. Going around the back in the McGrath Estate Agents Hcp Signposted led, Braces sat second, Pirate Ben sat third, as that leading division separated from the rest of the field, with Sassaby sitting some 2 lengths away back in fourth.

Into the straight Signposted led Braces in second with no change to the order, Pirate Ben just appeared to be losing touch with the front runners, until the final hundred when Blaike McDougall got working on the back to back winner to land the prize in front of Braces with Signposted finishing in third.

Congratulations to the Hirsch family, with their win with Pirate Ben bringing up 3 in a row.
