Our runners owned by one of our great stable supporters in Mr Bruce Mackenzie are fit, well & very much deserving in their places in this feature event, & our team will leave nothing left in the tank to ensure we give our representatives the best possible professional care they need to be ready for race day.

Four last start winners, 9 last start placed horses help make up some of the final runners, with 12 exceptional trainers joining forces with some of the finest jockeys in the land for a place in racing provincial history which has seen Serene Miss, Maryore, Danish Twist & Sure And Fast etch their names into previous winners history books.

2019 Newcastle – Provincial Championships Qualifier

Rewind to the race that secured our stable runners into the final saw pre-post Provincial Championships favourite Archedemus did it the hard way but underlined just how hard he’s going be in the Final if he can repeat the dominant performance witnessed by all at Newcastle, although the margin wasn’t big the Gwenda Markwell-trained galloper made it five wins on end as he fended off the Damien Lane stablemates Oakfield Missile and Oakfield Twilight from Wyong. Archedemus appeared vulnerable as they straightened for home but jockey Chad Lever coaxed the best out of the five-year-old who certainly knows where the winning post is.

We wish all runners, owners, trainers, & jockeys the very best of luck in competition on Saturday.

THE CONCEPT

Launched in 2015, the inaugural Provincial Championships proved a resounding success for the racing industry and was hotly contested by a number of provincial trainers.

An initiative of Racing NSW and supported by the Government of NSW, The Provincial Championships was created to support and promote NSW racing at the five provincial clubs, ensuring that these horses would also have an opportunity to compete in The Championships in Sydney in the autumn.

About The Series

  • The Polytrack Provincial Championships consists of a series of five qualifying races, each held at each of the Provincial Clubs.
  • Each race will be worth $150,000 in prize money, and will be contested by eligible horses that must be under the care of a provincial trainer.
  • The first and second and third horse in each race will qualify for the $500,000 Polytrack Provincial Championships final to be held at Royal Randwick in Sydney on The Championships Day 2 – Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day, Saturday 13 April 2019.
