Race 3 on the Newcastle card was run and won by Oakfield General, landing to prize with the Jean Van Overmeire aboard, taking out the1400m maiden at Newcastle.
Oakfield General led early before sitting fourth behind Vanell with the tempo genuine heading to the turn.
Into the straight Overmeire got off heals and raced up to battle it out with Vanell, before drawing clear late, leaving Kailenny the next runner in.
