Five-year-old chestnut Oakfield General stepped back into competitive racing at Newcastle when competing in the Pedens Hotel benchmark 58 handicap over 1200 m with Jake Hull piloting the runner to a 2nd behind Garyfromthebull with Di’s Diamond third.

Oakfield General’s first up form in the past has supported three runs with two placings and was last seen finishing fourth of seven at this track in September last year over the mile, a nice way to kick off the prep.
