Damien Lane prepared Nissile for the Newcastle race meeting in race 5 over 1850 m with Matthew Bennett  aboard jumping from barrier eight in a field of 12.

As the starter pressed the button Nissile was in a positive frame of mind moving up to be better than midfield, with Apache Lad leading the field out in the early stages by a length and a half to Thousand Carat in second Loncava was third Oakfield Invader was wide as Nissile trailed that runner passing the 1500 meter point.

Around the side in the Quarry Mining BM 65 handicap the order was unchanged as the first four remained the same with Nissile, 3 1/2 lengths from the leader with the field stretched out some nine lengths from 1st to last as they raced to the turn preparing for a run home.

Into the straight Apache Lad lead with thousand Carat in pursuit, Nissile and Bennett lead the race momentarily with 200 from home, as Loncava gained the lead with Bandit Bay coping a squeeze, as Loncava took out the event drawing to the line with the unlucky Bandit Bay in second with a blanket finish for third with the judge calling for the print, as Nissile gained the upper hand of that photo to edge out Thousand Carat.
