The Damien Lane prepared Mr McBat competed in a class (2) handicap over 1100 m with the Dubbo race meeting finally underway after rain reduced the circuit to a heavy 10, Mathew Cahill was aboard the runner from barrier 9.
Formally trained out of the Steve Farley Yard, Mr McBat a four-year-old Bay gelding by Krupt out of Grail Queen jumped towards the tail of the field on landing the Ascot Gardens and Force8civil& began tugging for rein in the early stages with the mouth open travelling some 4 to 5 lengths from the race leader Brute who was joined by Nothin Leica Poet as the runners straightened for home.
Into the straight Centauro led, The Dylan was forward as was Juju Man, finishing fast in the concluding stages to take out the eventin advance of Centauro in second, with the fast finishing Mr McBat, fresh from a spell, storming home as the widest runner to land in third position on this occasion with a reduced field of 11 crossing the line.
