An amazing Grafton carnival continued for trainer Damien Lane and jockey Jason Taylor with the pair combining to take out the Sir James Kirby Handicap at Grafton over the thousand metres with Johnny Roo Boy.

Sitting in a positive frame on landing behind Plateau Gold with I Am Gypsy, & Lady Jetsetter, of his back, Jason Taylor found himself in front midway down the straight, before hitting a “flat spot” in the running to climb off the canvas &  land The Sir James Kirby Quality, in advance of Lady Jetsetter with Espiritu the next runner in, in a sizzling 56.49 for the 1000 metre journey with the final 600m in 33.79.

The win gave the stable the South Grafton Cup win with Mr McBat & The Sir James Kirby double, with Damien Lane’s & partner Kate Law’s other runner on the card, All But Gone finishing 2nd earlier in the day with all of the mounts ridden by Jockey Jason Taylor.

Congratulations to the owners, the estate of J Hirsch & Mr E Hirsch who have been great supporters of the Lane camp for many years.
