Cannonball day is a highlight of the Coonamble racing calendar and Damien always enjoys bringing a strong team of runners back to his hometown on the feature race day. Mosayter mare Fanny Chenal has been racing well of late and converted some good performances into a victory, breaking her maiden at start 13.

Josh Oliver sat midfield, behind the pace and timed his run well to avoid being caught up in the ruck. Once he found clear running in the straight, Fanny Chenal let down to win by a length which marked the second winner for the stable in as many days.

“It’s always nice to come home and have a few runners but even better to get a winner. She’s lightly raced for a 5-year-old so hopefully, this is the first of more wins to come,” said Damien.

Damien and connections are hopeful the 5-year-old mare can take confidence from the win and continue on her winning way. We thank the patient owners of Fanny Chenal who have kept the faith and we hope they enjoy the well-deserved win!
