The Damian Lane prepared Star Approach headed to the Port Macquarie race meeting on Friday February 13 in a class 2 handicap over 1200 m with Roy L McCabe the pilot jumping from barrier three in a field of 14.

As the gates flew back Galaxy Dane from the deep was fast into stride, Star Approach was not about to hand up the lead in the early stages with McCabe quickened  up to passing the 800, Za's Kingdom was in second outside of Latitude Lad whom was fourth with the pace upfront moderate settle into stride.

Coming to the turn Star Approach led the field with the order pretty much unchanged from the first call from 1st to last all playing a role, Star Approach straightened and was looking confident under the control of Roy L McCabe with the second favourite Dixie Lad peeling to the outside for a crack on leveling.

Heading to the judge Star Approach seemed to be getting stronger as the line drew nearer and although Galaxy Dane was fighting on strongly with Dixie Lad running on from midfield, it was all Star Approach confidently ridden with the well prepared horse taking out the event by 2.3 lengths to Dixie Lad with Galaxy Dane some 3.3 lengths from the winner.

Congratulations to the ownership group on a solid win.
