Stable runner Cervinia competed in a class 2 handicap over 2100 m at Gosford on Thursday, August 11 with Blaike McDougall aboard the runner jumping from barrier three with a field of 9 to compete.

Early in proceedings of the staying type race the leader was Sirius Spy, Marilisa was in second with Cervinia in third on the plastic, to be  taken on in an earnest by Red Viking looming up to make a line of four, as a tough little class 2 was waiting to played out with a number of last start winners (4) eager for another prize.

Coming to the turn in the Redeye Constructions Event the field split into two groups Cervinia led for home, coming underneath runners though was Tim Clark’s mount, Crossing Guard whom sat off the pace early in proceedings, with the well rested galloper racing to the lead in the concluding stages, to land the 2100m event by two lengths on the line, in advance of Cervinia, the improver, this time out, indicating that the longer trip is more to her liking, Great Orator finished in third.
