Damien Lane saddled up stable runner Able Chap to race one on the Muswellbrook card in a maiden plate over 1750 m with Kody Nestor aboard the top weight jumping from barrier seven in a field of nine.
As the field dispatch in the Kaloane Food Services maiden the first runner into stride was that of Mr Mile, Able Chap settled second off the leaders girth with Our Gracious Betty third in advance of Seburst.
Coming to the straight Mr Mile led Able Chap, however under the urgings of Kody Nestor, the Lane prepared runner sat delicately poised, before responding to the persuader in the concluding stages and despite a massive run down the outside by Explosive Prince, it was Able Chap the victor by a narrow margin to Explosive Prince with Mr Mile landing in third.
