The Damien Lane stables of Wyong saddled up another newcomer to the training ranks with Able Chap competing in race three on the Cessnock card, with Lester Grace aboard the well supported runner second up from a spell jumping from barrier five.
After an awkward dispatch the early race leader was Dubleagent, Lasting Impression was out well on the outside of Goss River fever with stable mate Our Compass Rose in fourth, Able Chap sat midfield with many lengths from top to toe.
Coming to the turn however it was the race leader Dublegent who skipped clear of Lasting Impression, whom was under pressure, Able Chap was beginning to stoke up out wide, in unison with Explosive Prince, but on straightening all eyes were on Dubleagent who kicking well clear in the concluding stages to land the prize in advance of Able Chap who ran on strongly to nudge out the fast finishing Explosive Prince in third.
